Phoenix Course Update #11: Real-Time Updates
March 24, 2025
Greetings, again! 👽
In 2023, three of Earth’s top radio astronomy observatories detected an encoded message being broadcast from outer space. Spooky green aliens?
Nah! It turns out a team of human scientists arranged for a spacecraft in orbit around Mars to transmit the signal to Earth. It was a test to see how listening posts would respond if aliens really did broadcast a message to Earth. The race was on to decode the message! 👾
Now we’re not fooled by extraterrestrials. ET can phone home, but we’re not picking up. 🛸 However, we do love a good game of publish and subscribe, especially when both parties are strictly on Team Earth. We come in peace. Take us to your Wi-Fi.
Which naturally brings us to this week’s new videos…
Today we added 2 new modules to our Full-Stack Phoenix course on using PubSub to broadcast real-time updates across planets browsers:
- Real-Time Updates Using PubSub
- Broadcasting A Raffle Winner
You don’t have to jump through hoops to update LiveViews in real-time. All Phoenix apps have a built-in PubSub server. You’ll learn how to use it to keep everything seamlessly in sync. 📡
