The Pragmatic Studio

New Online Ruby Course

March 19, 2012

Today we’re very happy to announce the release of our online Ruby Programming Course!

To see what it’s all about, check out the introduction video:

This course is specifically designed to help folks who are new to Ruby or Rails. If you want to become fluent in Ruby, or use Rails more effectively, then this course is for you. It’s also a great way to get prepared for our popular Ruby on Rails Studio.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn how to write a complete object-oriented program in Ruby, from start to finish using a step-by-step approach. You’ll come away knowing more than just the fundamentals of programming in Ruby. Along the way, you’ll also learn Ruby idioms, design principles, and techniques for using Ruby to its full potential.

As this is an online course, you can start taking it immediately. And you can stop, rewind, and re-watch it as often as you like and at your own pace. It’s like having your own personal Studio!

Here are a few of the course highlights:

  • The course includes 25 HD-quality videos with personal instruction and live coding. Watch the videos in your browser for an integrated learning experience, or download them for offline viewing. All the videos are DRM-free and available in full 1280x720 HD resolution.

  • As a companion to the videos, the course also includes a comprehensive online workbook. Each chapter of the workbook gives you an opportunity to practice what you learned in each of the videos by writing, reading, and refactoring Ruby code. The workbook is an integral part of the course and includes step-by-step exercises, tips and tricks, and (of course) all the solutions.

  • You also get access to a mailing list exclusively for participants of this course. If you have any questions or problems at any point during the course, we’re happy to help.

Start the course today and by this time next week you’ll have published your first RubyGem and be well on your way to many more!

We hope you have as much fun taking this course as we did making it.

Thanks for your continued support, and enjoy!
