Spring 2010 Studio Schedule
February 03, 2010
It’s an exciting time to be a developer, and we have a bunch of new Studios coming up to help you stay on top of your game! These Studios tend to sell out fairly quickly (the March courses are full), so make plans to join us soon and take advantage of the early-bird discounts.
Ruby on Rails
April 6-8 in Reston, VA
The Ruby on Rails Studio is a 3-day, hands-on training course where you’ll learn how to quickly build high-quality web applications from Dave Thomas and Chad Fowler. You’ll learn all the major features of the latest version of Rails, and how to put them together to build dynamic web applications like the pros. You’ll come away from this Studio with the confidence and skills to build your own Rails applications: from idea to deployment. If you’re just getting into Rails, or need to get your team up to speed quickly, this course is for you.
Cocoa Studio
April 14-16 in Reston, VA
The Cocoa Studio is a 3-day training course where you’ll learn how create applications for the Mac using the latest features in Snow Leopard. You’ll get hands-on experience with Objective-C, Cocoa, Xcode, and Interface Builder with expert guidance from Daniel Steinberg, a master Cocoa programmer and author of Cocoa Programming: A Quick-Start Guide for Developers. You’ll come away from this course ready to start creating applications for the Mac, with a deeper understanding of the principles and patterns behind iPhone/iPad applications. If you’re new to the Mac development platform, or looking to complement your iPhone/iPad application with a Mac application, this course is for you.
Mastering Ruby and Rails Studio
April 27-30 in Reston, VA
May 11-14 in Chicago, IL
The Mastering Ruby and Rails Studio is an advanced team-based workshop that combines instruction, hands-on labs, and discussions led by Dave Thomas and Chad Fowler. We’ve taken the best of our Advanced Ruby and Advanced Rails courses and designed this 4-day master course for experienced developers. You’ll learn the best of modern Ruby and Rails development, including Ruby 1.9 and steps to migrating your Rails 2.x application to Rails 3.0. If you have at least one Rails application under your belt and you’re ready to take the next step to Ruby and Rails mastery, this course is for you.
iPhone Studio
May 11-14 in Chicago, IL
The iPhone Studio is a 4-day, hands-on training course where you’ll learn how to create full-featured iPhone apps from two renowned iPhone experts: Matt Drance and Daniel Steinberg. You’ll come away from this Studio knowing Xcode, Interface Builder, Objective-C, Cocoa Touch programming, and the APIs included in the latest iPhone SDK. You’ll be ready to create your first iPhone app, or improve your existing app. Attending this course will also give you a jump start on programming the iPad. If you’re new to iPhone development, or you’ve started building an iPhone app and need help putting all the pieces together, this course is for you.
Clojure Studio
May 12-14 in Reston, VA
The Clojure Studio is a new 3-day, hands-on course where you’ll learn to program Clojure with Rich Hickey, the creator of the language, and Stuart Halloway, author of the popular book Programming Clojure. Clojure is a dynamic programming language with the elegance of a good scripting language, and the concurrent power of the Java Virtual Machine. You’ve heard about functional programming. This is your chance to really get into it and learn directly from the experts.
So there’s a lot going on in Studio land this spring, and we hope this schedule gives you an opportunity to attend some of our most popular Studios soon. Remember that if you have a team of 5 or more, you might consider scheduling an on-site course.
Thanks for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you this spring!
