Rails Guidebook at RailsConf

February 02, 2007

RailsConf registration is open, and again this year Dave Thomas and Mike Clark are offering a one-day tutorial dubbed Rails Guidebook. Like a good travel guidebook, we’ll show you around Ruby and Rails so you can hit the conference like a seasoned traveler. We’ll give you the roadmap, visit points of interest, demonstrate key new features, answer questions, and teach you some of the local language you’ll need to make the most of the talks at the conference (and beyond). And we’ll put it all in perspective so you can cut through the hype and start building killer web applications.

In keeping with tradition, we’re donating our time and not charging for admission. Instead, a $75 (minimum) tax-deductible donation to one or more select charities is required to attend. Last year over $8000 was raised for ten great charities, and we hope to raise even more this year. At the same time, it’s important to us that folks continue to have an affordable conference guidebook to Rails. So while we raised the minimum donation a bit this year, we hope you’ll agree that it’s still very reasonable. And we continue to hope that folks will give over and above the minimum, or donate even if you’re planning to attend another great tutorial. As added incentive, the top three contributors will get some extra goodies!

Rails Guidebook will be held on Thursday, May 17 from 8:30am to 5:00pm at the Oregon Convention Center. You must be registered for RailsConf to attend this tutorial. To register for Rails Guidebook, please indicate that you’ll be attending on the RailsConf registration form. Then go to our charity wish list, choose one or more charities, and make your donation. Once you register you’ll receive a donation receipt via email. You’ll need to present this receipt at the door for admission to the tutorial.

We’re grateful to the RailsConf team for helping us continue this tradition again this year. Thanks!

Hope to see you there!
